Rubber O-Rings

FAQs

FKM is the ASTM designation for a class of fluorinated, carbon-based synthetic rubber, commonly known as fluoroelastomer. FKM has impressive heat resistance, allowing FKM seals to withstand temperatures greater than 200°C and also is resistant to a lot of gas and chemical components.

The working temperature range is considered to be -26°C to +205°/230°C (-15°F to +400°/440°F). For short working periods it will take even higher temperatures. Special compounds having improved chemical resistance are also available with new types always being developed in our own R&D centers.

For a cost-effective static sealing solution, silicone makes perfect sense as your seal material of choice. However, if you require a more versatile material capable of both static and dynamic sealing, then FKM is the clear winner. While both Viton and silicone have excellent resistance to many chemicals, certain chemicals, like chlorine and many more chemical components, can cause the silicone to deteriorate rapidly, yet have little or no effect on Viton

FFKM offers a greater degree of versatility than FKM. It's more chemically resistant and can withstand a greater range of operating temperatures, offering peak service temperatures of up to 330°C.
